Overnight Family Visit to Wada — Total Relaxation, Big Learning and So Memorable!

Blog

My Dear YPians,

Our family’s recent overnight visit to Wada was such an awesome experience, that I felt I must share it with our entire team. I will attempt to give you as vivid an account as I can.

Mrs. Kher, my daughter, son-in-law , their 4 year old daughter and I went to Wada on a Saturday morning and reached the farm at around 10.30am, after having breakfast on the way. We were welcomed in the lush green and beautiful forest scenery with fresh and refreshing limbu sharbat made from farm grown lemons.

Thereafter, we immediately left for an interesting farm visit spread over an hour and a half , a magical experience for our little grand daughter who was entranced by objects, animals, birds and fish that she had only read about in books! The farm being organic, is eco-friendly and aims to train farmers, so they can increase their income.

Starting with the tree house, a novelty for the child, where she put her doll and teddy bear to sleep (adults too can stay overnight), we went to the oxygen zone below the tree house , where a number of oxygen generating plants give you clean, pure oxygen enriched air to breathe. Further down on both sides of the road were coconut trees and teak trees planted by the team as tiny saplings. We saw ahead papaya trees, drumstick trees, lemon trees, guava trees and a mogra flowers field, followed by patches of brinjal, chilly and bhendi. Next, we saw creeper vegetables like bitter gourd, snake and bottle gourd and pumpkins. The team has been planting ten new trees per person per week!

The aromatic spice garden was our next stop. It has a number of common spice plants and a huge natural pond with edible fish. Every August they fill the pond with tiny fish, grow the fish before harvesting in March. It was really nostalgic to walk around the pond. It took us back 10 years when it was desert land, but now looks so alluring and beautiful! All the tiny saplings have become tall trees in 10 years and everything we saw was like a soothing balm to us city dwellers. We run a plant nursery with 20000 plants for sale and also grow azzola — an animal diet supplement.

We continued further to the poultry section where different types of hens lay eggs, and are subsequently sold for meat. We also saw there a small pond with edible Tilapia fish for sale. There were ducks too; their eggs and the ducks are also sold. We have a collection of 10 or 15 white and brown rabbits there, which are sold as pets, besides beautiful aquarium fish of different kinds and colors and tortoises. We then went to the cowshed where we saw 4 cows and free range poultry living side by side. The goat shed with about 8 or 10 goats of three different breeds is located next.
